Shumate Woodworking began business as a small custom furniture maker.  As the romance
of being a starving artist began to wear off, we moved into window blinds, shutters, and other
window treatments.  Now we can make a living, but my heart is still in furniture building.

If you can find the piece of furniture that you want at a furniture store, they will
very likely sell it to you cheaper than I can make it.  A piece of custom furniture is for the
client who wants beautiful things that last, and who does not mind paying for them.
